About 350 people bought Biden Shirts last Weekend after Robbert Hubbell escalated my comment below “Concluding Thoughts” in his Substack Newsletter.
I had cried on Robert’s shoulder in the comment section. “I wear a Biden Shirt on Every Grocery Run. I had hoped the idea would catch on. But not even people who love me are on board.”
Every time I hear that people are frustrated with Biden’s lack of momentum or Trump’s persistence, I write the same comment: Buy a Biden Shirt. BE the enthusiasm. OUR NUMBERS are strong. But to MAGA, we do not exist. Unengaged voters don’t know Dems Make Life Better.
So, Why Grocery Stores? Consider it a media buy. You see the same pharma commercials on the Evening News. Ads for Sports Betting Apps litter every football game.
If WE concentrate our Biden T-Shirts in Grocery Stores, our message will be 10x stronger.
Just 3 Biden shirts in a Krogers will make unengaged voters wonder, “What’s THAT about?” Your Biden shirt alone will make fellow Biden fans feel not alone. One Biden shirt shows election deniers we undeniably exist.
WHY ELSE?
Safety. Grocery Stores are well-lit, populated, filled with families, and scattered with employees. Plus, busy shoppers aren’t looking for a fight. They want to get in & out. I was AFRAID to wear my Biden Shirt in South Florida. So, on my very first grocery run last January, I wore a Santa hat, too. Nobody would assault Santa, right? My fears were quickly assuaged as the tally of “I like your shirt” grew and grew, and the cans of beans flung at my head remained at zero. After 46 trips, I’ve had zero negative confrontations. Zero. (One woman said she would pray for me.)
The lack of vitriol has renewed my faith in humans and MAGA. The sensational stories that make headlines are the outliers that overstate the threat. Vitriol DOES exist online, where people anonymously thumb-type with fury. News Flash: In face-to-face interactions, people are good.
Back to the 350 T-shirts. With 5 months until 11/5, assuming you pass 20 people on a grocery run, 70,001 Biden supporters will feel hope. 69,999 Trump supporters will scratch their heads. And all 140,000 would feel the enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is contagious.
Biden doesn’t throw rallies. He doesn't have Trump’s cult following. (Or Fox News’ 24/7 re-election team.) Biden doesn’t have Obama’s charisma or Hillary’s fierce defenders. He doesn’t have the easy swagger of Bill Clinton. And that’s why WE NEED A MOMENTUM-BUILDING STRATEGY.
If we simply wear our Biden shirts among like-minded friends or fold them sparingly into our wardrobe rotations—or worse, our closets—our $30 investments are wasted. If we turn Grocery Stores into spontaneous shows of support EVERY TIME WE NEED MILK, we will become an unmissable ad campaign. Got Democracy?
Envision seeing multiple Biden shirts on EVERY grocery run. A recent horoscope told me: Expect great things. As I reflected upon the optimism that spurred in me, I had another thought: Don’t wait for the universe to bestow great things. Use what you have to create greatness. Expect great things from yourself.
I devour Robert Hubbell’s Today’s Edition daily. When I saw MY name in HIS font, I called out, FARRAH! In a voice that made my wife drop everything. She read aloud to me as I had a wide-eyed fanboy moment. Still in shock, I typed my appreciation and added another call to buy shirts. He pinned THAT message to the top of his comment section. How great is that?
Restack this: BeantownStrong.org (for Biden shirts) DemsMakeLifeBetter.org (for Pro-Dem Shirts). See you in the Dairy Aisle.
So proud of you SS! You have not been deterred despite lukewarm (and non) support from fellow Democrats. I think success is made once you push through the mire and get to the other side. You sure are pushing. I hope Robert Hubbell's acknowledgement encourages you to keep going. ⛰️
I admire your steadfast devotion to your wear a Biden shirt to the grocery store campaign. I just wish they weren't so darn UGLY.
